Places to visit and things to do on the Fylde coast

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.

A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare
— William Henry Davies

The fylde coast and its surroundings offer plenty of exciting and interesting sights. From the bright lights of Blackpool to the open heathland of the Bowland Fells. You'll find plenty of things to keep you occupied. Here are some of the highlights to make your trip one to remember:

Blackpool for                seaside fun

Want a fun family day out? Then head to Blackpool for the Piers, Pleasure Beach and sandy beaches. Don't forget to visit the world famous Blackpool Tower, Madam Tussauds and Sea Life Centre. Get around on foot or take a tram ride along the promenade.

Cleveleys &               fleetwood bay

With a lovely promenade walk and miles of sandy beaches, Cleveleys and Fleetwood offer  visitors a calmer alternative to Blackpool. Ditch the car and get around by tram.

MARKET TOWNS:

Garstang & Poulton-le-fylde

Poulton is just two minutes by car and Garstang is 15 minutes away. Both offer a more traditional look of life on the Fylde coast. Garstang has its own canal and tow-path to explore and the town is not far from the Bowland Fells.

Bowland Fells &             Forrest of Bowland

The Bowland Fells look splendid all year round. Summer brings with it the purple heathers and in winter the landscape is barren with muted browns and pale yellows. You can enjoy a huge variety of colour coded walks suitable for all abilities. You can also find biking trails plus lost of wildlife to discover. The views from the 'Trough of Bowland' are simply stunning so don't forget your camera! On a clear day you can see for miles across several counties and even the distant Lake District.
